About the site

Filmnotion: A conception of or belief about film. A vague awareness or understanding of the nature of film. Synonyms: idea – thought  - opinion

Filmnotion has been started by a few film lovers here is Australia. It was started on the 4th of January 2012, and we will work hard to get as much info on here as we can, so keep checking regularly as we will be adding new elements all the time. We love good movies, good trailers and good news. Because of this we have decided to update on a selected area of film, and won’t be posting anything and everything that happens in the movie world, on a day to day basis. We want to concentrate on the area we love, which on occasions blends into all things film. If stories happen that we’re not so fussed on, we will simply not post it, we will leave it to other sites. We think this will make this site a unique and specialised area of news and information. The main area we will cover is independent and foreign, although from time to time you will see news on the great blockbuster and Hollywood films (who couldn’t be excited about ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ or ‘The Hobbit’).

We are a very small group at the moment and have a few people contributing, but hopefully a few more will join us soon.In terms of reviews we have decided to do the majority reviews as micro reviews. Short to the point reviews that don’t give away much about the film. The micro reviews will consist of, A short plot summary, Acting, Film Techniques and A short conclusion.

We also have Kerry M Baker on board. His notions will be more involved and through his eloquent writing he will give his thoughts and feelings on actors, actresses, films, directors (basically all things film) and sometimes even the events that can take place on an outing to the cinema.

We have also acquired a contact in the U.S, so we will be receiving news and reviews occasionally from over the pond. These reviews will obviously be, in most cases, ahead of Australian releases, but we will be sure to advise the release dates here, so you can mark it in the calendar.

We would love any feedback, so don’t hesitate to contact us and let us know what you think and any additions you may think the site needs.

Thanks and we hope you enjoy the site.
